about the congregation

A living center of Jewish prayer, learning and community in Seattle

Congregation Shaarei Tefilah-Lubavitch is a close-knit and open Jewish community dedicated to helping Jews from all backgrounds reconnect with, strengthen, and live their heritage with meaning.

Who we are

Shaarei Tefilah-Lubavitch is a place where Jews gather on Shabbos for spirited davening, followed by steaming cholent and hearty l'chaim. It is a place to learn Torah, sing a niggun, hear an inspiring Chassidic story from the rabbi, or gain a meaningful life insight through conversation and community.

This is a congregation shaped by warmth, sincerity and depth, where tradition is lived with joy and where Jewish life feels present, accessible and real.

A shul where people come not only to pray, but to belong.

Community life

On Simchat Torah, the joy is tangible. Neighbors wander in and are swept into the dancing, singing and celebration. On the High Holidays, no ticket is needed. Everyone is welcome to come and make their peace with G‑d.

Members of the congregation regularly open their homes on Shabbat to visitors from out of town and to Seattleites exploring traditional Judaism, extending the spirit of the shul far beyond its walls.

A culture of care

When Jews from around the world come to Seattle for treatment at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center or Children's Hospital, members of Shaarei Tefilah-Lubavitch help provide for their needs, from Shabbat candles to emotional support for their families.

That responsiveness is part of the congregation's identity: practical kindness, personal responsibility and a deep commitment to every Jew.
